C‑Crete’s 2023 Year in Review
C‑Crete’s 2023 Year in Review: A Breakthrough Year for Cement Decarbonization
For C-Crete, 2023 was a transformative year marked by bold innovation, industry leadership, and accelerating momentum in the race to decarbonize construction. From unveiling our first cement-free concrete to developing the world’s first zeolite-based concrete, our work in 2023 helped redefine what’s possible in sustainable building materials
Together with our partners, customers, and supporters, we paved a faster, scalable, and cost-effective path for achieving net-zero emissions in one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries.

Key Milestones & Achievements:
Poured ~200 Tons of Cement-Free Concrete in Real-World Projects
C‑Crete’s flagship cement-free concrete made its historic debut across multiple construction sites – including foundations, slabs, steps, walls, and driveways – marking a critical shift from lab to field. This low carbon concrete, reaching ~8,000 psi or more, meets and exceeds strength requirements for a wide range of structural applications.
ASCE Coverage
C‑Crete inaugurated its pilot production plant, capable of producing several thousand tons per year of binder. The facility converts abundant non-carbonate rocks from Earth’s crust into high-performance cementitious materials, all without the carbon emissions tied to traditional cement.

Unveiled the World’s First Zeolite-Based Concrete
A major scientific milestone: we developed and deployed 20 tons of Portland cement-free, zeolite-based concrete, emitting ulra-low CO₂ in its production. Zeolite is one of many local feedstocks that make up C‑Crete’s diverse portfolio of sustainable binders.
Karmactive Feature

Certified to Industry Standards & Independently Verified
C‑Crete products met key standards like ASTM C1157, and underwent third-party validation for mechanical and durability performance across independent labs and concrete producers in North America.

Started Commercial Sales with No Green Premiums
We began generating revenue by selling our product to developers and builders at parity with traditional cement pricing, staying true to our belief that sustainability must be accessible and affordable.
Received Nearly $4M in U.S. Federal Awards
C‑Crete received prestigious DOE and ARPA-E grants totaling nearly $4 million to advance our binder technologies and accelerate deployment at scale.
