World’s First Granite-Based Concrete For a Data Center

December 2025, C-Crete poured the world’s first granite-based, cement-free concrete slab and tilt-up wall for a Seattle data center project serving a global hyperscaler – proving that mission-critical infrastructure can be built without Portland cement.

Data centers are among the most demanding structures in the built environment. They require uncompromising structural integrity, thermal stability, and long-term durability — all while facing mounting pressure to reduce embodied carbon.

Our cement-free technology delivers on both performance and sustainability.

🔹 Granite-based, zero–Portland cement formulation
🔹 Ultra-low carbon footprint compared to conventional concrete
🔹 Engineered for mission-critical durability and long service life
🔹 Thermal stability for high-performance facilities
🔹 Cost-competitive and scalable for large-scale deployment

For two centuries, Portland cement has defined modern construction — and driven significant global carbon emissions. This milestone signals a fundamental shift: high-performance infrastructure no longer has to come with a high carbon cost.

As hyperscale and enterprise data centers continue expanding worldwide, the opportunity to decarbonize core structural systems is massive. This project is more than a first – it’s a blueprint for the future of sustainable infrastructure.

Congratulations to the collaborators and partners including WSP and general contractor PCL Construction who made this breakthrough possible.
