Habitat’s Live-Work-Thrive Campus
Habitat’s Live-Work-Thrive Campus
November 2024 – Los Angeles, CA
November 2024, C-Crete began its first pour of Portland-cement-free concrete in Southern California at the Live-Work-Thrive Campus, known is Habitat, in Los Angeles.

This ambitious project was designed by SHoP Architects and Steinberg Hart, and brought to life by Lendlease’s global placemaking expertise.
Habitat is set to complete in early 2026 with world-class certifications including LEED Platinum (office), LEED Gold (residential), and Fitwel, aligning with Lendlease’s Mission Zero pledge to achieve Net Zero Carbonby 2025 and absolute zero by 2040.
As part of the larger Habitat project, which targets LEED Platinum/Gold and aligns with Lendlease’s Mission Zero carbon goals, C-Crete’s proprietary binder was used in place of Portland cement in part of the wall system of the structure to eliminate the CO₂ emissions typically associated with conventional concrete – without sacrificing strength or workability – and achieved a 28-day compressive strength of 6150 psi that exceeded industry standards.

This early-stage application represented a meaningful step toward decarbonizing urban construction in one of the world’s most influential creative capitals. The project featured biophilic design elements interwoven with vibrant greenspaces, along with inviting amenities and inspiring workspaces, all aimed at elevating the content capital of the world. The pour was also perfectly aligned with the sustainability mission of Habitat.

C-Crete is grateful to the outstanding teams who made this pioneering pour possible within such an inspiring project:
