Shotcrete with C-Crete: A Milestone in Sustainable Construction
Shotcrete with C-Crete: A milestone in Sustainable Construction
Apr 2025 | Pleasantoon, CA
August 2025, C-Crete successfully demonstrated the first-ever shotcrete application using C-Crete — a revolutionary, cement-free concrete with ultra-low carbon emissions. This milestone marks a significant step forward in sustainable construction, combining the flexibility and performance of shotcrete (sprayable concrete) with the environmental benefits of C-Crete’s innovative formulation.
Shotcrete is widely used in tunnels, mines, retaining walls, slope stabilization, swimming pools, structural repairs (such as bridges and dams), architectural and decorative elements, waterproofing, and more. During the application, the finishing crew noted the excellent workability and were impressed by the lack of sagging or waviness — issues that can commonly occur with traditional Portland cement-based shotcrete.
We’re excited about this advancement – not only as an expansion of C-Crete’s capabilities but also as a glimpse into how cement-free concrete can be applied across a broad range of construction practices. Thanks to Bill Brown Construction, Pleasanton Ready Mix, and Ali Zarei for conducting this pilot.
